Class D

After building two Sure Electrics Class D amps "Mirage" (100W) and "ROBUSTO" (500W). I felt a need to hear something from the International Rectifiers (IR) camp. The switching chip (the heart of any Class D amp) can decide what sound your amp will have. In this case the IR2092S Gate Driver chip. I ordered a Digikey IRAUDAMP7S scalable amp module. More volts in more power out. Half bridge for Stereo or switch to full bridge for 500W mono.

I used two Mundorf M-Lytec 47,000uf caps. Very expensive and huge but I have read where they can deliver 700A in an instant. The PS will deliver 420W. The amp should be capable of 200Wpc @ 0.05% THD according to specs.

This amp is extremely transparent. Not sure if the two Mundorfs are responsible for this or the IR chipset. But the amp is extremely impressive, a hell of a lot of power and great bass. The enclosure is a 3U 19" rack mount and made of steel.

I call the amp "Class D". Quite unimaginative. I name all my gear. Checkout Mirage and ROBUSTO.
