Custom tube amp

Most notably, this amplifier uses the 24A tetrodes in triode mode for the preamp section. These tubes are rarely used for audio amplifiers but unrightfully so, given that in triode mode they present very good linearity.

The 45 is a classic directly heated triode for audio output, matching well with the 24A tubes. The output is 1.3W per channel of sweet music so the amp has to be used with high efficiency speakers.

The chassis is done with local south american hardwood and engraved steel plates.

The output transformers and other iron cored components were all handwound, and the transformer endbells also engraved.

As for the wiring, it was done point to point and cable lacing the vintage cloth wire used like in vintage mil spec equipment.

  • Excellent work. You have gone to far more trouble than I ever would. But it shows.

  • Very nice tube amps, look so exotic to me. I am even thinking if I should go that route and have some for my horn system...
