ELEKTOR Low Noise MC-Preamp
Today this MC-Preamp is far from being state-of-the-art. Nevertheless, I still use it and like to show it here. The preamp has symmetrical inputs and unbalanced outputs that deliver up to 200mV.
The schematics show a differential input with a MAT03 double transistor and its constant current source. Further amplification is provided by two OP27 op-amps. I have combined each amplifier board with its own power supply board. On that board there are the rectifier diodes, snubber and filter caps and a LM325 dual polarity tracking regulator. The two small laminated transformers are located in a separate case to prevent EMI problems.
The casework is bronze anodized aluminum, tinted glass and polished walnut burl wood.
