The Final Integrated Amplifier

After 35 years as an EE and audiophile, I downsized and built this wonderful integrated amp. The power amp is based on Exicon lateral MOSFETS and the topology is my own design. Compensation is a derivative of transitional Miller compensation, which provides lower distortion with good stability. The design is extremely robust and unconditionally stable--I would say bullet-proof--and drives my Thiel CS3.6s nicely.

Power amplifier specs are as follows:
60 W into 8 ohms, and 125 W into 2 ohms.
THD at 20 kHz: 8 ohms, 0.006%, 4 ohms, 0.025%, 2 ohms, 0.18%.
18 A peak into 1 ohm.
Slew rate 200 V/microsecond

Preamps are modern high-performance opamps. Includes an RIAA input. I laid out 2-sided circuit boards for everything. Case is machined from aluminum, then black anodized. It's about 12 inches square and 5.5 inches high. Front panel is figured Bubinga with Ebony knobs.

  • Great build!
Would like to know if you still own it - would be happy to take it off your hands!
    Cheers
