DIY Leach amp

This is my second Leach amp in memory of doctor W.M. Leach.
Radiators taken from dismantled old amplifier. Transformer - 350VA 2x45VAC.
This amplifier is used in bi-amped system together with another of my Leach amp

  • I love Dr. Leach's amps! I will have to post pics my "Leach Amp" made according to Dr. Leach's "Low TIM 3" article in "Audio Amateur" many years ago! It is still the best solid state amp I have personally heard, having no experience with Krell's, Mark Levinson's etc... Dr. Leach designed exquisite solid-state amps (and prolly much more I am unaware of)! Yours is a nice build! Thanks for posting!

  • I built this same amplifier back in 1998 as an electronic school project. It turned out incredible. Recently, I experimented with high end capacitors. I changed C6 and C7 in the feedback network. It blew my mind what these changes did to the sound. This Leach amp now destroys my two Krell amplifiers in every aspect. I used the Muse bipolar 220 uF 16V (C6)(green) and a .22uF 300V Vcap CuFT film capacitor (C7). You have to do this mod. It's shocking. Worth every penny.
