The Beast

This Dynaco Stereo 410 power amp was fully operational when I acquired it, with numerous parts having been replaced and upgraded. However, it's physical state had sadly been neglected.

I planned to use this for hi-fi use so I needed to make it more visually appealing. The fan noise was also way too loud.

This was addressed by replacing the fan with a very quiet (25db) model from Pabst (4890N), along with silicon fan mounts that isolate the fan from the chassis.
The fan was also given a dust filter and aluminium isolation feet were added to the underside.

The most dramatic upgrade was the replacement of the aluminium fascia. The original was discarded and substituted with a stainless panel I had fabricated that features a custom laser etched design.

I was unable to find a large version of the Dynaco logo clean enough for reproduction, so redrew it myself (on my computer) from scratch.

Large stainless rack handles were also added to the front for cosmetic reasons, but also help when manouvering this beast around. For those unfamiliar with this model, it has a truly enormous power transformer that weighs a ton!

I've included some 'before' images so you can see how much more living-room-friendly it is nowadays.
