First Watt F5

After reading so much over this amp, i started a new project for my Avantgarde Acoustic Duo Omega Hornspeaker.

To get the maximal performance out of Nelson´s circuit, i had tried to select the best parts for every place:

- Schaffner FN 2070/3A multistage EMI Filter

- Antek AS-4218 / 400VA Audio toroidal transformer

- RFB03 rectifier bridge from Sjostrom Audio with IXYS DPG 60 C 200 HB HiPerFRED diodes

- PSU with Mundorf 22.000µF/40V M-Lytic AG caps and Mills MRA05 resistors

- diyaudio amp pcb with PRP PR9372 & Mills MRA05 resistors. For R9, R13 & R14 witch are in the signal line, i choose Texas Components TX2575 resistors. For P1 & P2 i choose Vishay 1240 bulk metal foil pots, ordered also at Texas Components.

- PSU cable: Kimber TCX

- Audio cable: Kimber PBJ

- Speaker cable: Kimber 4TC

- Mains cable: Supra LoRad

- Hifi-Tuning Supreme 3 fuse

- WBT cinch & speaker connectors

- Furutech FI-03 mains connector

Because i use a LED-Switch in all my self-made stuff, i add the SST03 Softstart module from Sjostrom Audio, a design without extra transformer.
It has connectors for the mains switch, the LED and handle the soft start for the toroidal transformer.
However, all parts on the primary side in Nelson´s psu circuit could be canceled.

The case comes from hifi2000.it and the front and back panel design from my mind (machined by Schaeffer AG, Belin).

After fixing a small GND failure on the psu pcb from Jims Audio (ebay) and the first few hrs. of burn in, i am totally thrilled about the sound quality.

The hype about this amp all over the world is absolute justifiable.

Chapeau! Nelson for that awesome amp!!!
