EL82 amplifier

Till so far i built poweramplifiers using transmitting triodes. Time for chance: use more common tubes. So these monoblocks are based on the EL82 (i like the sound of them more than the often used EL84). The EL82 is used in triode and fed with an 6C45 as input/driver. Audiopath: inputtransformer - 6C45 - interstage - EL82 - output transformer. From the inputtransformer to the outputtransformer the complete system is balanced: so double 6C45; 1+1:1+1 interstage; double 82.

The power supply is seperated in its own compartment; the cables run through the hollow connectors between the chassis.

Small, simple and effective. Besides the musicality no hum or hiss. So these monoblocks are simply made for high sensitivity loudspeakers. They can drive my mainspeakers (89 dB) but of course not a high levels; these amps only produce 8 Watt. But it is in pushpull; so there is far better control.

As always is like to oversize all components. Especially the power supply is merely getting warm. That is a problem for the rectifiers sound better when warm (!) and they remain quite cold. That is why a dedicated resistor is fixed to the rectifiers......just to produce heat !
