Silverr Dragon

TJ Full Music 300B SE carbon plate tubes were used in this amp with a 50 Years Treasure 6SN7 and Silver and Mylar Audio Note coupling caps. The OPTs are 30W Hammonds and the power tranni is a localy wound AVAT. Top and bottom plates are 2mm Al and the bases made from Mirboo.

A Golden Dragon 5U4 rec. tube provides 465V to the mains tubes. There is a seperate dual winding filament tranni for the 300B heaters with seperate 8A rectifiers and low dropout adjustable 5V regulators.

Power supply and amp are seperate and the 6SN7 heaters are also DC powered. Only DC enters the amp section. There is no PCB and all component-2-component wiring in the amp. Silver wire is used in the audio path.

The amp delivers a loud 8W with a big sound and very transparent mid range. Parts cost $3,500!

  • Nice.

What kind (metal, thickness) of top plate and/ or structure underneath supports the weight of the big transformers?

    Cheers

  • Sorry Otto I missed the comment earlier. The plates are 2mm with timbre bracing around the base.
