'The Wire'

My built of the famous headphone amplifier "The Wire" that was devellopped on Diyaudio. Based on the LME49990 and LME49600 op amps with focus on shortest signal path and compact build.

I housed the pcb in a CNC cut enclosure out of Golden Madrona Burl with aluminum front and back panels. The psu is covered by a rusty cover of 3mm soft steel to have a nice contrast to the precious wood above.
The three aluminum feet of the amplifier have small neodymium tablets in them to -sort of- snap the amplifier to the psu cover.

  • I'm really big on audio gear being as much about art as sound. In your little creation here you have achaived that synergy. I also like the "cuteness" of the whole build.

It doesn't always take much to take a drab looking piece of gear and dress it up a little. Of course you have gone further than that.

What other creations do you have?

  • Retro, if you click on Stixxs' builder name in the grey panel at the top containing the project info, a gallery page of his projects will be assembled on the fly.

  • Retro, thanks for the kind words!
As the admin (Jason?) pointed out, there is a few other amps some pages back. When I click on my name though it doesn't show all of my stuff... :)
